In November 2022, Mercy Hands conducted an assessment of the governmental institutes catering to children with disabilities in Basra, as well as the governmental agency supporting these institutes, namely Department of Special Needs, which is affiliated with the Directorate of Labour and Social Affairs.
The purpose of the study was to gain comprehensive insights into the financial capacities and needs of these institutes, as well as their educational requirements, existing challenges, areas requiring support, and future aspirations.
The study was conducted by the Research and Development Department in collaboration with the Education and Social Behavior Change Department.
